He has already obtained his first patent when he was only 24 years old. Epaminondas Stathopoulos is the founder and namesake of Epiphone. He then cut along one his Epiphone guitars and glued both halves of the body to the back and front of the block and finished was his first solidbody electric guitar. He used a block of maple wood which he fitted with a bridge, pickups, tailpiece and a normal Gibson guitar neck.
Around in 1941 Les Paul built “The Log” which was his first prototype of an electric solid body guitar. He’d spend every weekend at the empty factory halls of Epiphone in order to work on the realisation of his concept of the ideal guitar.
